Off Road Chipping

Whole System Management

The Whole System approach to fuel reduction and thinning is using hand crews accompanied by a mobile chipper. This allows the crews to operate off or on road and on grades not accessible to conventional chipping. These grades are typically only accessible by using hand crews piling and burning or conventional mechanical methods of fuel reduction that involve major soil disturbance or an almost complete lack of selectivity. By using hand crews leaving select healthy trees that were hidden in the brush is possible.

Crawler tractor chipper

With this tractor chipper combination the crews are able to thin the property and chip at the same time with minimal movement of the cut brush because the chipper stays close to the work.

The job is done once! With conventional mechanical treatment or hand crews brush is usually piled and must be burned.
